General Description:
This internship focuses on improving our website’s appearance, design, content, and functionality. This can provide a platform to showcase your web design skills on a real-world project, and provide opportunities to learn, grow and contribute to environmental conservation. It is an excellent opportunity for hands-on experience in web design, platform management, and content creation related to wildlife conservation. A passion for preserving wildlife and their habitats will enhance a candidate’s performance in this position.
Essential Skills:
- Proficiency in WordPress and other web design platforms.
- Communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to transform ideas into functional website features.
- Interest in creating and maintaining digital libraries with multimedia content.
- Knowledge and creativity to design a website that fosters engagement and creates a community around our cause, making visitors feel part of our mission and motivated to contribute, be it through donations, volunteering, or advocacy.
- Skill to integrate our social media platforms into the website.
- Ability to troubleshoot web problems, write efficient code applications, and utilize web applications and languages.
- Familiarity with the Microsoft Office suite of products including Word, OneNote, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
Responsibilities:
- Enhance website aesthetics and functionality.
- Assist in building a searchable online reference library for local fauna and flora.
- Ensure the website has a user-friendly interface, call-to-action items are easily accessible and seen, and that security features are installed and kept updated.
- Install and use web analytics tools to track user behavior and identify areas for improvement.
- Integrate our social media platforms into the website.
- Troubleshoot web problems, write efficient code applications, and utilize web applications and languages.
- Upload newsletters, blog posts, articles, and other information as requested by the board of directors.
